Expert Q&A

Is it OK to give a toddler Dramamine?

Dramamine is sometimes given to children, but for those under age 2 you should contact your physician for the correct dose. Over-the-counter antihistamines are also used, but again if your child is under age 2, you should contact your physician both to ensure that there is no reason that he/she shouldn't take the medication and to get the correct dose. You should be aware that sometimes children can have the opposite reaction to a medication, medications that usually cause drowsiness can instead make the child more excitable."
