I am nursing my 6-month-old son. We are going to be on a plane for seven hours. Can I take Dramamine or Bonine for my motion sickness?
Most over-the-counter motion sickness medications can be used sparingly while breastfeeding. Some of the medication may be excreted in breast milk and may cause drowsiness in your baby. These medications are antihistamines, which can dry up any secretions including breast milk; therefore, it may temporarily decrease your supply. Before taking motion sickness medications, you should check with your baby's physician especially if your child has any chronic medical problems or is taking any medications.
