Are there any items you recommend carrying on the plane instead of checking in?

Never check what you cannot be without during your trip. If you take medication, bring it along. If you are doing a presentation and need slides or computer disks, take it with you. I take several items at all times: a flashlight; a handkerchief (to put over my mouth in case of smoke); swim goggles (to put over my eyes in case of smoke); a Swiss army knife with lots of tools, especially a sharp knife earplugs; eye mask; a microlight (see our Web site at http://www.jfagifts.com); a folded, pressed white button down shirt; a neutral tie; a pair of clean underwear; a tooth brush; a brush; $1 in change (to make phone calls); and two Slim-Fast bars in case there are no meals.."
