Shelly's Diary EntriesDiary Navigation: |

Today was dedicated to packing, and I took all day to do it. I made a packing list, did a last minute load of laundry, laid out all the clothes and tried to fit them into the suitcase. HA! Ruthlessly pulled things out of the suitcase until the lid would close, then smashed it down and zipped it. Ah . packing done. =)
We're going to Southern California, and it's supposed to be incredibly warm. So we've packed a lot of shorts, short-sleeve shirts, bathing suits (and underwear and socks, of course). We were planning to include one pair of long pants and one sweatshirt each for our additional trip to Truckee, until the aforementioned incident (overstuffed suitcase). Upon checking the forecast on The Weather Channel's online site, we determined that it would be warm enough not to need long anything. Thank goodness! Between the *very* full suitcase, the overnight bag, and a backpack for each of us, I don't know how we would have carried another suitcase to the airport check-in counter.
My husband, Jim, managed to fit the camcorder and 35mm camera into his backpack, along with his wallet and a few other items. The kids each have theirs stuffed with toys and a snack. A juice pouch for each boy will be included in the morning. We had to make sure their packs weren't *too* full because we want them to be able to carry them. I emptied most of the contents of my purse into small containers to keep them semi-organized in my backpack. I have a plastic bag and a change of clothes for my potty training 3 ½-year-old. I am bringing two small notebooks to continue my journal, sans computer, next week. Also, I'm the designated water carrier, as I have two water-bottle-sized pouches on either side of my pack. One will carry a full bottle of water, and the other a tippy-cup for my messy 3 ½-year-old.
I'm off to bed now, so that I can get up early to get to the airport to go to . DISNEYLAND! Can you tell I'm excited?
