Shelly's Diary EntriesDiary Navigation: |
June 21, 2000
I really should have been packing, or, at least, planning what I should pack. Instead, I sat at the computer this morning reading my e-mail. Quite a confession, eh? I’m only on two lists, which I’ve joined over the past three months, but they’ve already become an important part of my life.Later, I started surfing the ŒNet, looking for new freelance opportunities, ideas spinning around in my head so fast I couldn’t possibly capture them all on paper. Then it hit me. We’re going on a week long vacation in four days. What was I doing on the computer? I turned it off.
I sorted loads of laundry while my boys played with my friend’s two kids, a 6-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy, whom I was watching for a couple of hours. I actually got one load into the washer before I turned on the computer again. After all, I was expecting some business-related e-mail, so I had to check, right?
The kids’ mom arrived and we all had lunch together. She stayed and chatted for a while. When they left, I decided that was the opportune time to do some last minute travel shopping. I don’t want to lug my heavy purse all over Disneyland for three days, so I needed to buy a small backpack, preferably something that could hold a water bottle. I found a pack that can hold two, so I’ll be the designated water carrier this trip.
Also, I needed some more comfortable shoes if I was to be expected to tromp all over Disneyland, rather than sit on my butt in front of the computer as usual. I picked up some new sandals for Bryan and Jim, as well. Aaron didn’t need new sandals because we have some in his size left over from when Bryan was his age. Hand-me-downs are a wonderful thing at this age. Aaron hasn’t yet figured out the stuff is used. It’s all new to him, so he’s happy to have it.
After dinner and bedtime, I found myself in front of the computer again. Typing this up for you. This sure is a kick. I hope you find as much enjoyment in the reading of it as I do in the writing.
Good night. Tomorrow, I do the rest of the laundry and pack. As soon as I finish checking my e-mail.
