Introduction

Disneyland, November 17, 2000
Day 5

We're finally back home safe and sound. I was right. I need a vacation to recuperate from our vacation. :-)

DisneylandThe hotel held all of our bags so that we could make the checkout time but still enjoy our last day in the park. Our last day is always spent doing all our favorite rides again. We started over in Tomorrowland with the rockets, moving around to the Matterhorn, the Autopia cars and It's A Small World. From there we headed to Fantasyland to do Alice in Wonderland, the Tea Cups and Peter Pans Flight, which broke down, so we got out of line, did Mr. Toad instead. Then got back in line for Peter Pan, which was running again. Of course, it broke down one more time, we stayed in line, and it was back on line in ten minutes or so.

On the teacups. We ate lunch on Main Street and it was obvious it was time for the boys to get back home. Matthew was so tired he didn't want to eat, but he was crabby from not eating. Andrew just wanted to play with his food.

After Terry and I ate (the kids weren't very interested) we went to Adventureland to ride The Jungle Cruise, then around to The Haunted Mansion and the Country Bear Jamboree. We had to ride the Haunted Mansion one more time on the way back past it (after the jamboree) and then off to the Pirates for our last ride before leaving the park. In between we took time out for some musical breaks -- watching the street performers.

Matthew discovered a new hobby this trip -- "squishin' pennies." They have those machines that will press pictures into a penny and Matthew fell in love. We even found a store that sold a pressed penny album so he shows it to everyone who asks about his Disneyland trip.

Disneyland. We left the park a little bit late, but still beat the shuttle to the hotel. Before we knew it we were back at the airport and faced with yet another delayed flight. This one was over an hour late. Thankfully, the Orange County airport had a McDonalds, so we got happy meals for the kids and just relaxed a bit before our flight. Andrew was exhausted and was asleep before the plane even took off. Matthew sat really quiet the entire flight. Once they got home Andrew practically dove into his crib and both the boys slept for about 14 hours. I think we wore them out.

Terry and I were glad they had such a good time and that it was such a successful trip. We are looking forward to visiting again soon to check out the new addition in Disney's California Adventure. We've been watching the construction for several trips now and it's been fun to watch it develop.

I hope this journal helps you on your trip to the Magic Kingdom. It truly is an amazing place.
