Day 2
This was probably our best day in the park ... EVER.
Both boys were on their best behavior. In fact, on the way in this
morning
we asked Matthew what he wanted to do first and his answer was, "First
thing
we have to do is be good." Disneyland is a magical place!
From there we head to Toontown to meet our mouse host himself. Andrew
loves
Mickey Mouse and Matthew has been making us laugh by talking to all the
characters he meets like they should know him. They both met Mickey,
Andrew
met Goofy and Matthew met Jessie today. Of course, Matthew was concerned
as
to why Jessie didn't have Bullseye with her.
A good portion of the day Matthew kept asking us if he could go see
"Injun
Joe" and for the life of us we could not figure out what he was talking
about. As we were headed out of the hotel for an afternoon break, Terry
asked him to show us "Injun Joe" on our way out. Our first surprise was
that Matthew knew exactly how to navigate the park as well as us. Our
second surprise was that the ride he was asking for all day was Indiana
Jones! He wanted me to ride with him this time and we both asked him if
he
was sure. We were walking down the queue and I asked him if he was going
to
get scared and he said no, so I told him I might get scared and he said
"That's OK Mama, you don't have to scared, it's not real." What a kid!
He
was able to "drive" the jeep on the ride and had seemed to have a great
time.
We took our break after that and went back to the hotel, but neither boy
napped. They did rest for a bit and watched "Franken-Pooh." We gave up
on
them sleeping and went back into the park. We rode more rides. Matthew
had
his first ride on the rockets, which he loved. We ate dinner at the
Pizza
Port in Tomorrowland and Andrew fell asleep in the stroller for about 30
minutes, waking up in just enough time for the fireworks show. The
fireworks were spectacular and brought tears to my eyes. Just when you
think that Disney couldn't do it any better, it starts to snow on Main
Street while they play "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas." Wow! I'll
never forget it.
Our last rides of the night were, of course, The Haunted Mansion and The Pirates. We stopped and played in the penny arcades on Main Street on our way to catch the tram back to the hotel. Both the boys loved the novelty of it all. Andrew would watch the penny movies but flinch when the picture would flip. :-)
Stay tuned for more fun tomorrow.
