Micki's Diary EntriesDiary Navigation: |
November 9, 2000
Here it is already -- T minus three days and counting before our trip to the Magic Kingdom. I can hardly wait and, of course, I'm nowhere near ready.
I did remember to call yesterday and get our reservation on the super shuttle that will take us from John Wayne Airport to our hotel. If you've never used the super shuttle service, it's great. I always have it included in our package. We went once, before the kids, flew down and rented a car. It was a big pain in the neck and a substantial expense. Since we never leave the Disney property, the car was just parked at the hotel -- we won't even mention how miserable driving in LA can be. This way we walk right out from baggage claim and onto the super shuttle. They drive us to the hotel and when its time to go back to the airport, they pick us up in the hotel lobby.
This weekend starts the fun part -- laundry and trying to second guess Southern California weather in November. I need to make sure I have enough of every kind of snack and game to keep the kids busy on the plane and in the shuttle -- not to mention toys to keep them occupied in the hotel room at night. Of course, all while trying to pack light enough so that Terry and I can actually get from baggage claim TO the shuttle in one trip and still have a hand free to grab the kids. :-)
No matter how much trouble it can seem on paper, it's worth it all when I see the faces of my boys light up when they realize where we are. Andrew is too young; he just sees things that interest him. Matthew knows. He knows that it's Disneyland and the magic that fills the air there. He knows that around any given corner he could run into Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Cinderella or Winnie the Pooh. We don't tell him we're going for many reasons -- one of which is that he would drive us looney asking if it was time to go yet. Mainly though we don't tell him because we're selfish. We love so much to see his face light up when he realizes just where he is. You can almost read his mind as it races at a million miles an hour, thinking of all the fun that we'll have while we're there.
Next stop ... Disneyland!
