Jill's Diary EntriesDiary Navigation: |

A working vacation -- yes, that's what they call it. A working vacation is when people combine business and pleasure during a getaway from home. When one becomes a parent, it is safe to say that every vacation should be considered a working vacation for the next 18 years. Of course the whole process begins with the packing. Things were much smoother when I was packing for one to escape for a week on the beach. A new bathing suit, the coolest shades, a cute beach bag, a few sundresses and presto, I was ready. It's truly amazing how much paraphernalia we "need" for our children during a beach vacation: bathing suits, floaties, sun block, bug spray, swimmer sox, swimming diapers, sun bonnets, beach cover ups, wipies, crackers, cookies, sippy cups and the list goes on. Multiply those "necessities" by two and let the packing begin. But the hours of wave jumping and sandcastle smashing were priceless. Sure I longed for just a few hours on the beach alone, but nothing could ever replace my two little shell-collecting partners. We've made memories that will last a lifetime.
