Today has been pretty slow. We got up early, went to the mall, and spent the rest of the evening with my family. Tony and Mary, my aunt and uncle, arrived at about 8:30 or 9:00 p.m. and my parents finally showed up at 10:30. This is the time with my family that I really enjoy. There was no pressure, no time constraints, just being together. Tomorrow will be busy. Grandma, Papa and Lea will be cooking; the kids will be watching the parade (hopefully), and the rest of us will be preparing for Christmas. So many of us have gifts left to wrap, which seems to be a family tradition. I will most likely end up helping with the gift wrapping in between chasing kids and helping, if needed, with lunch.
Today at the mall, we took Kirk and Anne to see Santa. Franklin has a great mall -- the Galleria. Kirk made a list of gifts for himself and I made one for Anne. Kirk delivered them both to Santa. He couldn't talk once he got there. He was like the little boy in A Christmas Story. Santa misread Kirk's list and Kirk was unable to correct him. He asked me about it later and I told him that I was sure that once Santa got home and looked at his list again, he would understand what Kirk meant and give him the right gift. Later, after we got home from the mall, I went shopping with grandma and the boys stayed home. Wes, Ted, Grandpa, and the boys played football in the front yard. They had a great male bonding experience and grandma and I were able to enjoy each other's company.
