Jenna's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

November 22, 2000

I spent all day Monday getting ready for this trip. I spent most of the day baking and putting the finishing touches on my holiday crafts. Then I had loads and loads of laundry to do. And finally I had to pack for all five of us. Needless to say I didn't get any sleep. This morning I had to get up early and go with my sister to my son Kirk's school. My sister does costumed story-telling and was performing for his class. We were planning to leave by noon, so I had to have everything done before we left at 10 a.m. As usual, we didn't get off on time. We started an hour late.

Well, the drive was fine. Kirk and Anne slept first and Aaron played. After about an hour Kirk woke up and we had to make one of those emergency bathroom breaks. Once we got going again, Aaron fell asleep and Anne and Kirk played.

The drive was beautiful. Almost the entire way the interstate was lined with large trees all decked out in beautiful fall colors. Once you enter Tennessee the land opens up a little and there are beautiful pasture lands and rolling hills. The last hour of the trip we drive through farm land. This was Kirk's favorite part. We saw so many animals and Kirk counted 20 "ripped" barns.

We made really good time. We made a five hour trip in four hours including two stops. The kids were great, though they managed to all seriously filthy up their clothes with leaky diapers and such.

When we arrived, my uncle and his family were at my grandma's house. Kirk (5) immediately disappeared with Kelly (7) and right away Aaron (2) and Jake (2) began playing. They are such tough boys. Anne (nearly 1) decided to take off after the boys and Wes and I were left to spend time of the adults. We had dinner and then celebrated Aaron's birthday which was yesterday. Tomorrow we are going to have a lot a free time. I'll most likely end up doing a little more Christmas shopping.
