Heather's Diary Entries

Introduction

Buildings in AmsterdamI am on the plane on my way home from Amsterdam. I am really excited to see Andrew and the boys, and to share all of these wonderful stories with him. I know he will love to see all of my pictures. I only took 5 1/2 rolls of film!

I actually decided to leave the Amsterdam Schipol Airport and went to see the city. It was fun. I took the metro into town, which only cost me about $1.00. I got lost, walked about a mile, and then took the bus back into town. When I came out of the metro station, I found a really pretty cathedral. I am not sure how old it is, but it may have been built sometime in the 1800s. I went inside to have a look. See my favorite thing about going to Europe is seeing castles and cathedrals. They are always so beautiful. So much work is put into them.

Buildings in AmsterdamI also found some really nice waterways in the area. They are so unique looking. I really wanted to take a tour of the city on one of those little boats, but I didn't have enough money left over. Maybe next time. (My husband and I plan to visit Israel and my parents again in 2002. I am sure that I we will be going through Amsterdam then as well!)

The pictures I have included are of the area in Amsterdam that I was walking around. One is of a small water canal, the other is of the Metro station, and the last one is of a street light casting a shadow across the waterway to the back of the cathedral I visited.

Buildings in AmsterdamAs this is my last entry for my journal, I would like to conclude by saying that I had a wonderful time! My two weeks were well spent, and I am so glad that God blessed me with the money to go. I feel that I was able to have some excellent time to get to know my sister better, and I also feel that we have begun a new relationship that will last. I was also very excited to be with my parents again in their own home. That meant so much to me.

Thank you for joining me on my journey to Israel. I hope that you enjoyed reading about it. I also hope that this inspires someone out there to visit Israel, or to just read about their history and understand.
