Introduction
I am on the plane on my way home from Amsterdam. I am really excited to
see Andrew and the boys, and to share all of these wonderful stories
with him. I know he will love to see all of my pictures. I only took 5
1/2 rolls
of film!
I actually decided to leave the Amsterdam Schipol Airport and went to see the city. It was fun. I took the metro into town, which only cost me about $1.00. I got lost, walked about a mile, and then took the bus back into town. When I came out of the metro station, I found a really pretty cathedral. I am not sure how old it is, but it may have been built sometime in the 1800s. I went inside to have a look. See my favorite thing about going to Europe is seeing castles and cathedrals. They are always so beautiful. So much work is put into them.
I also found some really nice waterways in the area. They are so unique
looking. I really wanted to take a tour of the city on one of those
little boats, but I didn't have enough money left over. Maybe next time.
(My husband and I plan to visit Israel and my parents again in 2002. I
am sure that I we will be going through Amsterdam then as well!)
The pictures I have included are of the area in Amsterdam that I was walking around. One is of a small water canal, the other is of the Metro station, and the last one is of a street light casting a shadow across the waterway to the back of the cathedral I visited.
As this is my last entry for my journal, I would like to conclude by
saying that I had a wonderful time! My two weeks were well spent, and I
am so glad that God blessed me with the money to go. I feel that I was
able to have some excellent time to get to know my sister better, and I
also feel that we have begun a new relationship that will last. I was
also very excited to be with my parents again in their own home. That
meant so much to me.
Thank you for joining me on my journey to Israel. I hope that you enjoyed reading about it. I also hope that this inspires someone out there to visit Israel, or to just read about their history and understand.
