What a day! I was slightly emotionally stressed. On top of that, I had a wedding to go to that night and none of the dresses that I had brought looked right on me! Ugh! I hate those days!
My friend, Marianne, came by to visit with me for a little while before the wedding. We talked forever and ever and never did finish our conversation. But I am sure we will see each other again real soon. (Real friends are those that you can start important conversations with, leave them unfinished, and pick up where you left off the next time you see them. Even if it's years and years!)
Our family had been invited over for dinner to family’s house that night. They are old friends of our family that had three kids I used to baby-sit when I lived at home. The last time I saw their kids, the oldest was 6, the middle was 4, and the youngest was 2! When I got married she had just had a baby boy and he was 4 months old. Well, when we arrived at their house, I was shocked to say the least. The oldest is now 11, the middle one is 9, and the next one down is about 7, and the youngest boy is now 5! They were all darling, but boy do the parents have their hands full. They made us a wonderful dinner and we talked for a long time, getting caught up.
We stayed for about 2 ½ hours and on their way home, my parents dropped me off at the wedding reception. All of my old friends were there. It was the wedding of my friend’s brother, and for some reason no one got a chance to tell him that I was in town for a visit, let alone at the reception! I waited until after the cake was cut and everyone was dancing to tell him congratulations! The look on his face was worth a million dollars! He seemed very excited to see me, as I was to see him.
I was able to talk with everyone for a couple of hours and it was very nice. Marianne drove me home and that ended my evening around 11:30 p.m. It was wonderful!
