Today we slept in ... ahhh. We took our time getting up and preparing for the day. It was nice to just relax. We finally left the condo around 9:30 and went to a local florist to get a rose. My mom really wanted to go to the beach as a family, so Phillip thought it would be nice to throw in a rose in her honor.
Today is the first day I have had a feeling of needing to go home. I do not travel well and sometimes get pangs of anxiety when in a new place or in a large crowd. Put that with the feelings of missing my mom, and worrying about my dad at home and I was pretty much a mess that morning.
Soon enough we were on our way to Cocoa Beach! The scenery there was beautiful! We crossed a huge bridge, and going up it looked like you would just fall off the other side. It was so high and steep. It really was astounding.
We pulled into a small beach called Lori Wilson Park. It was a very small beach and there were only two other people there when we got there. We did not plan on swimming because it was so cool so we just headed down in our shorts. We took our socks and shoes off to wade just a little. Caleb loved this and of course the waves were coming in pretty well and he was soaked! Alexis and I went and threw in the rose we had for Gram and then she was ready to search for shells.
Phillip and Alexis walked down the beach while Caleb and I stayed put and played in the water and sand. Phillip said the rose that we threw in kept coming back up to the shore line. Finally they took a petal off of it and he gave it a big toss and it was gone. When we were ready to leave Caleb's pants were soaked. I cannot believe we went so unprepared! We did not bring towels, extra clothes, etc. I guess we thought since we weren't swimming we didn't need these things.
So, all packed back up in the van we went looking for dry shorts for Caleb. Finally we ended up at Ron Jon Surf Shop. Neither Phill or I had ever been. This place was huge! We finally settled on a pair of swim trunks for Caleb that didn't look too much like swim wear. Alexis picked out a long sleeved shirt (that we found out at home does not fit!). After that we stopped to eat a quick lunch and headed back to Orlando.
We were home by 3 p.m. and decided to take a little dip in the pool. We didn't stay there long either because it was really pretty cool for the kids. So, back to the condo where we cleaned up and just relaxed.
That evening we went out to dinner. We took our time and just tried to enjoy our night.
