Part Two

After a rest for a while it was time to get into costume. Caleb was happy to dress up as Peter Pan, and Alexis was none other than Jessie. We finally made our way out of the condo and headed to the Magic Kingdom. It was finally time for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! We first had to wait in line with many others dressed up as their favorite characters. I should also mention that Phillip intended to dress up as Michael Darling, to play off of Caleb's Peter pan, but his costume just didn't work right. So, he ended up with a arm rest cozie on his head fastened with a napkin ring. That is my husband. He did in fact wear this all night, even after all of the strange looks. Oh well, Disney World seems to bring the out the kid in all of us.

Kids dressed up at DisneyWe finally arrived at the Ticket and Transportation Center at 6:30, with my sister and her family in tow. We ended up waiting in line to board the monorail, to get to the Magic Kingdom. It was interesting to see all the people dressed up for the party. Well, to make a long story short, we made it to the Magic Kingdom right around the start of the party. For MNSSHP being limited to a certain amount of people, it sure was crowded. We continued up Main Street and I think our eyes were as big as the kids that night. The whole park, even Cinderella's Castle, was transformed into a Halloween wonderland. Ghosts flying against the buildings, fog, Haunted Mansion music filled the air, tons of people decked out in their Halloween garb (young and old), pumpkin carving, and even trick-or-treating. Disney seemed to think of everything!

We slowly made our way (as a group) to Dumbo and decided to take a spin. Phill and Caleb were going to sit this one out, until Alexis and I were in our Dumbo car. Phill handed Caleb over and Caleb came along for the ride also. At about that time we split our group up and we went our separate ways. There were special "Boo-To-You" parades that children could participate in so, Alexis got in on one. You could see her eyes light up as the parade started and they weaved in and out of Fantasyland ending at the backside of Cinderella's Castle.

After the kids' parade was done, we had their Halloween picture taken (for free). On to Liberty Square we went and rode the Haunted Mansion. Getting out of the Haunted Mansion just in time to line up for Mickey's Not-So-Scary-Halloween Parade. An old Englishman warned us that the Headless Horseman had been spotted coming our way. Soon enough, the Horseman came galloping down the street with his jack-o-lantern head in hand. Right behind him was the parade. Floats rode by with various characters dressed up for Halloween. Spooky music, the Disney Villains, and the Disney favorites were all there (even the Toy Story crew).

Kids dressed up at DisneyAfter that was said and done, we tried to make our way through the crowd to Tomorrowland. Just as we reached our destination, the Halloween Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks started. They put our hometown 4th of July fireworks to shame. A great display and choreographed nicely to music. Phill got hungry and we ducked into Cosmic Ray's for a bite. We were just about ready to leave when some characters caught Phill's eyes. Buzz, Pluto, and Chip (of Chip and Dale) came into the restaurant and began dancing with the people. Caleb was ecstatic!! Buzz and his friends danced with us and conga lined with us for about a half an hour. This true highlight to a fantastic night.

After this, the night became a blur. Between riding Space Mountain many times and Astro Orbiter, the evening was slowly coming to an end. So, we left Tomarrowland and head to the Castle to catch Everyday's a Holiday Musical Revue in front of Cinderella's castle. As we approached, we heard some yelling from a park bench. Lo and behold, there was the rest of our group. So we enjoyed the show with them. It's amazing what Disney can do to the Castle with lights. A different light display shone onto the castle as the show switched from holiday to holiday. Our favorite was the stars and stripes on the castle.

As the show ended we glanced at our watches and realized that it was almost midnight. So, we walked back down Main Street, continuously glancing at all the ghosts flying across the buildings and the lighted hot air balloon pumpkins floating in the air. Walking slowly to the cars, with tired kids in tow, Phill and I decided to sleep in tomorrow and visit the ocean. We needed a break from amusement parks, even if was for just one day.

All in all, Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is totally worth the price and we would highly recommend it to anyone that's visiting Disney over Halloween.
