If You're Ever In Lake City, Tennessee...
By Susan Gibson
If you're ever in Lake City, Tenn., be sure to stop by Norris Dam State Park. Norris Dam is a special place because it has a lot of history. It was the first dam built by TVA back in the late 1930s. It also is a beautiful place with Norris Lake, wildlife, campsites, picnic areas, museums, etc.
During the warm months, the lake comes alive with boats zigging through the water from every direction. The fall brings beautiful colors from the leaves turning. The winter has its own magic with snow on the big pine trees hanging over the roads, and the deer picking their way through the snow.
We have a nationally-known museum also just down the road Museum of Appalachia that shows our heritage and culture from East Tennessee. Be sure and visit the city of Norris also, as it is a truly remarkable, quaint town.
