If You're Ever In Watertown, New York...
By Joanne M. Flaherty
If you're ever in Watertown, N.Y., be sure to stop by the Thompson Park Conservancy. This is one of the best parks throughout North America. It combines both combinations that make a park a success, using the integrity and compassion that the fruits of laborers that built and maintain and work at the park. The park offers a peaceful release that is like none other that I have found.
This particular park is situated on the top of a hill, which in the spring, summer or fall offers a refuge for all walks of life. There are several entrances to the park, making it diversified in its own right. In the winter months it offers the families of this area a place to go sledding. If it is cold enough, occasionally they offer an Ice Festival, which incorporates both the arts and entertainment of the local public and surrounding areas.
The Ice Festival brings back fond memories, which will always stay locked in my heart forever. However, lately I've heard it doesn't get as cold, henceforth, the celebration for ME at least is more in the spring, summer and fall or in my heart where I will always remember those cold winter days.
Thompson Park offers a gorgeous playground that has safety and fun incorporated for the young at heart. It was designed keeping in mind all the sizes of people that care to utilize the facility. I have personally had my share of fun at the park with both my own children and others that I "borrowed."
