Waterloo County market If you ever make your way to Waterloo County be sure to stop by the Village of St. Jacobs and visit the market. During the summer months, St. Jacobs hosts the Mennonite Farmers' Market on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Browse the stalls and let your senses take charge. Fresh eggplant, and avocado, fragrant lilacs and orange blossoms, luscious rolls and pies grace stalls and tempt even the most ardent of dieters. As you walk, enjoy the flavor of the community with horse and buggies to your left and young Mennonite children playing to the right.

When you've seen the market, cross the street to the newly built factory outlet mall. Children love watching the fudgemaker as he throws a bucket of fudge on the table, mixes it and turns it without spilling a drop. Stop at the peanut factory on the way home and learn how to grow your own peanut crop. Stop and chat with a farmer sitting at the roadside selling produce. Enjoy the drive away from Waterloo, through the patchwork of farmer's fields and remember that, some of us live the same life our ancestors did hundreds of years ago.
