Congratulations to Debbie Parsons from Eastland, Texas! Debbie won a Together Tunes from Neurosmith! Her special place is Eastland County Courthouse in Eastland, Texas.

"When I married I moved from Houston to a small town 90 miles west of Ft. Worth, Texas. I immediately learned of the legend of Old Rip.

"In the late 1880s, a new courthouse was built. One of the items placed in the cornerstone was a live horned toad. About 34 years later, this courthouse was torn down to build a new one. When the cornerstone was opened, Old Rip the horny toad was still alive! They took him on the train to see the president. On the way back, he died of pneumonia. He is now entombed in a purple velvet open casket in the courthouse. He has been featured on Ripley's Believe It or Not. Most old timers say the story is true.

"We always take our visitors down to the courthouse to see Old Rip. Our town (population 3000) holds the Old Ripfest parade and fair each September in honor of Old Rip!"
