"If You're Ever In..." Travel Contest Winners!

Pages:  1  2  3

Thank you to everybody who submitted their special place! We've read about quiet places to experience nature, bustling malls, historical locations and breathtaking retreats that have been special to whole families for years and years. Selecting only a few from such heart-felt entries was tough, but we have our winners!

Congratulations to Saraj Stephenson from Evansville, Wis.! Saraj won a Sinbad Legend of the Seven Seas DVD! Her favorite place is the Horicon Marsh in Horicon, Wis.

"If you're ever in Horicon, Wis., be sure to stop by the Horicon Marsh. My four children and I visited this amazing nature spot last spring. There are 32,000 acres of open water and cattail marsh to explore! Owned by the state of Wisconsin and managed by the Department of Natural Resources, it is a wonderful and safe way for your children to experience wildlife and nature at its best! We saw at least 40 different species of birds, including nesting pelicans, geese, killdeer, sandhill cranes, song sparrows, coots, ducks, pied-billed grebes, grackles, red-winged blackbirds and drumlins!

"Horicon Marsh also offers Marsh Melodies in the Spring season – they have plenty of exciting events for all ages! We brought our binoculars and were able to see adorable baby geese hatching! All of the sights and sounds of the marsh give a great appreciation for nature. You can visit the marsh during every season."

Congratulations to Mary Meddahi from New York, N.Y.! Mary won a Rand McNally 2003 Road Atlas: United States, Canada and Mexico from Rand McNally! Her favorite place is the Irish Hunger Memorial in New York City.

"There are so many wonderful places in New York City, but the Irish Hunger Memorial is a beautiful and peaceful spot in a bustling city that helps to remind me and my daughter, Lili Kathryn, of our heritage as well as how fortunate we are. Across from the memorial is a koi fishpond with occasional migrating ducks and a view of New Jersey across the Hudson. It's a beautiful place to find a peaceful, fresh air place in a big and bustling city."
