If You're Ever In Mississippi...
By Abekah Benning-Farley
Mississippi is home to me. My family, who migrated from Nigeria, will agree. Mississippi is heart of the South in my opinion. I couldn't say the same about most places. In Mississippi I feel the spiritual pull of my people. I feel heritage and pride. I visited the plantations once and I instantly became those people who were there before me. My people, they worked the land and cried out to God for freedom. Yes sir, Mississippi – home away from home.
