If You're Ever In Dubai, United Arab Emirates...

The Heritage and Diving Village on the Creek has attractions for both adults and children. They have live camels and donkeys available for rides; a traditional Bedouin village displayed where locals give demonstrations in old-style cooking; basket weaving, silversmithing and other crafts; an exhibition depicting traditional pearl diving (once an important trade); full-scale dhows – traditional boats; a playground; and several cafes with outdoor seating along the water. One can sip tea, sample a variety of Arabic dishes and smoke a shisha (flavored tobacco in an elaborate water pipe) while watching the boats go by on the creek.

One can also catch an abra ride to the other side of the creek or go out for a tour. Abras – water taxis – are still widely used today. At various times of the year – Ramadan, Eid, Shopping Festival, some national holidays – special performances are held at the Village. One of the nicest aspects of the Heritage Village is that it's not purely a tourist spot. The local and expat communities also frequent the Village.
