If You're Ever In Boston, Massachusetts...

My 8-year-old daughter, Lizzie, loves Faneuil Hall Marketplace and has for years. It's a great choice for parents on a budget, as the street performers are live performing daily at no charge. The performers are great and are ongoing throughout the day – magicians, jugglers, musicians all offer lively and often interactive entertainment. So if your young one loses attention/interest easily you can always move on to another performer should your child need to move on mid-performance. And you need not worry if your toddler is cranky, whiney or crying because the events are all outside in the open air, not in a concert hall or auditorium.

There are great shops including a huge Disney store and an endless selection of restaurants and street vendors. Across the street at City Hall Plaza there is often a band playing, an event or at Christmastime there is a themed village. For older kids, take them to the Holocaust museum/walkway which is also outside, free and will teach your child a valuable lesson guaranteed to touch Mom and Dad, too.

Should you be visiting Boston, other great attractions are just a subway or cab drive away, such as the Boston Common and swan boats and Fenway Park. I've taken my daughter several times, and there's always something new going on and she never gets tired of going!
