The American Club in Kohler, Wisconsin
An Ambience of Tradition By Belinda Clarke
Other seasonal activities at the resort include sleigh rides (when there's snow), horse-drawn carriage rides, wine tasting, birdwatching, hiking, holiday movies, afternoon tea and even Kohler Factory tours, just to name a few. A block from the resort is the Kohler Design Center, which houses the Kohler Company museum, a retrospective display of bath and faucet trends over the decades and numerous showrooms with the latest in Kohler sinks, faucets, showers and tubs.
The spa's coed area features a relaxation pool perpetually warmed to 95 degrees F, with an 8-foot cascading waterfall. "Two-gether" treatment rooms allow couples or friends to get massages at the same time next to a cozy fireplace. Therapeutic treatments include massages and facials, plus water treatments such as an immersion bath with bubbles, underwater light therapy and a hydro massage. Another very popular water experience is the Tsunami, which begins with an exfoliating salt rub followed by "buckets and buckets" of water poured over you, according to Kolb. The Tsunami concludes with a hot oil massage. "Though surprising at first, this treatment is our most invigorating," says Kolb.
