tion on the traditional Eggs Benedict. Served atop oysters, crabmeat or shrimp (just to name a few options), the poached eggs are as rich as the Hollandaise sauce that accompanies them. And if that's not enough, a dessert of flaming Bananas Foster (served with champagne) rounds out "breakfast," as this famous dessert was invented here.

If you can summon the strength to eat again after Brennan's, there are numerous fantastic lunch spots in the French Quarter. Acme Oyster House usually sports a line out the door, but it's worth the wait for lunch at this no-fuss hot spot. You may even find a pearl in your oyster Po-Boy! Another great seafood place is Mike Anderson's Seafood Restaurant, which offers great seafood, gator strips and a courteous wait staff whose accents are the real deal.

One of the finest French restaurants in the city, Cuve檠is situated within the St. James Hotel. With chandeliers fashioned from champagne bottles and oil paintings on exposed brick walls depicting French farmland and vineyards, the restaurant beckons tourists (and its share of locals) with its rich, elegant menu and fine wine selection.

The menu is diverse and incorporates local seafood and Louisiana flavors into the wide selection of French-inspired items. For starters, the Chef's Foie Gras and Wild Mushroom Gnocchi with white truffle oil and poached quail egg are incredible. Entrees include Creole Butter Roasted Chicken, Salmon Filet served over lump crabmeat with Brie orzo and Sugar Cane Smoked Duck Breast With Bleu-Walnut Risotto. Though decadent, none of the entrees is too heavy, allowing room for dessert.

Whether you're looking to party or just want to enjoy the unique culture that is New Orleans, the St. James Hotel is the perfect place for a taste of French influence with a touch of class. Better still, it's affordable in a city that leans a bit toward the expensive side.
