What's wild about Disney's Wilderness Resort is how much fun you can have all in one place. Despite the fact that it sits on the Walt Disney World property, the resort is a destination in itself. You could spend days enjoying the pools, playground, beach (with nearby fire rock geyser – watch for eruptions!), bikes and boats, and that's exactly what most families do in between visits to Disney theme parks.
One of the most attractive features of this amazing resort is that it has an attached dock, where you can board a charming boat and take a complimentary ride right up to the gates of the Magic Kingdom. It's like your own private water chauffer! Other boats take you to the Disney Campground and to the Contemporary Resort, where you can access the monorail system to travel even further throughout the Disney property.
Kids are a priority at the Wilderness Lodge. The restaurants cater to kids, with fun and games and smart-alecky waiters on hand to keep them laughing. Kids ages 4 to 12 can enjoy an evening at the Cub's Den, where they will savor wholesome kid time in a safe environment while Mom and Dad work out, have a quiet dinner – or just get some rest!
Rent a pontoon-, canopy- or zippy sport boat for an extra fun time on the lake, or go fishing with the kids. At night, join the group at the campfire and watch a twilight movie outdoors.
The Wilderness Lodge offers hotel units as well as larger condo-type units with several bedrooms, a kitchen and living room. This makes it an ideal spot to have a family gathering with grandparents or other relatives or friends. Disney makes it easy to plan a family trip with its Magical Gatherings program.
Groups of eight or more receive special benefits, personalized merchandise and unique experiences. Your group may opt to receive travel planning services, custom events and one-of-a-kind opportunities such as a Safari Celebration Dinner or a Magical Fireworks Voyage.
