East Coast Travel
The Top Family-friendly Resorts for Family Fun
By Elisa Ast All
Traveling with your children is one of the most exciting – and potentially stressful! – experiences you can have as a parent. You're sharing adventures only found when you leave the comfort of your own home. Being out of your own environment can make travel difficult, but today's family-friendly resorts have alleviated much of the anxiety surrounding family vacations.
The East Coast resorts featured here all receive rave reviews for providing comfortable accommodations, endless activities for kids and amenities for every member of the family.
Club Med is a bit mysterious to people who don't know what it's all about. Is membership required? Is it for adults only? What do you do there? After experiencing Club Med Sandpiper in Port St. Lucie, Fla., just two hours north of Miami on the St. Lucie River, all of these questions were answered, and then some.
Membership is not required to stay at a Club Med "village," of which there are more than 100 around the globe. Each Club Med village is a bit different, so it's important to find the one that suits your family's needs and preferences. Sandpiper is one of the most family-friendly of them all, with kids being a huge focus.
Club Med is a cross between a country club and a fitness facility, but a lot more fun. Starting at age 4 months, kids are welcome to attend Club Med children's clubs based on their age. With bright facilities and age-specific activities, the clubs are staffed by energetic and capable staff members devoted to showing children a good time in a safe environment. While your kids are having fun, you can play tennis, golf, bike, skate, swim and even fly through the air on a circus trapeze.
Family togetherness is the main priority at Club Med and there is an abundance of things to do together. From boating and sailing to live performances and cultural activities, you will find new experiences to soak in and remember. Because Club Med is an international company that's very popular in Europe, you will meet other families from around the world. Kids find it fascinating to hear various languages being spoken at the same time!
