Pointe South Mountain Resort, Phoenix, Ariz.

The 640-suite, 220-acre Pointe South Mountain Resort is situated at the base of the South Mountain desert preserve, and it may be the ultimate desert water adventure. Through a newly expanded children's program, the resort offers a wide array of age-appropriate activities and adventures.

The program is divided into age-specific categories from 6 months to 18 years of age. Each group enjoys age-appropriate activities, from story time and crafts to swimming and sports – there's even a full-sized swimming pool for use exclusively by the resort's Cactus Kids Club. Parents can enroll their children in the program for half- or full-day sessions, and all programs are supervised by Pointe Recreation Professionals who are CPR and first aid certified.

All rooms at Pointe South Mountain Resort are spacious two-room suites with separate living rooms, a work area for parents and private bedroom with balcony or patio, so there's room for everyone to spread out.

Pointe South offers spa services for the whole family at the resort's Phantom Horse Spa. The Pretty Princess Package includes a manicure and pedicure, featuring glitter polish or gemstones befitting a shining young princess, and a glamorous hairdo with ringlets topped with a jewel-toned tiara. Pedicure parties ($75 pr person) include music, finger foods and dress-up accessories. The young man's facial ($50) helps educate male teens on the importance of keeping the face clean all day.
