Helpful Hints

To make the visit to Chicago more enjoyable, ladies should bring a pair of comfortable shoes to wear during the day as they shop and explore. Because temperatures in Chicago can drop from balmy to frigid in a matter of minutes, a warm jacket is mandatory. In this very windy city don't forget your favorite hair gel to keep your tresses soothed and subdued.

Accommodations

Women who are looking to save a bit of money may want to check out the Essex Hotel. This well-known establishment on the southern end of Michigan Avenue offers all-day free shuttle service to the heart of the action in Chicago. The drivers are courteous and knowledgeable. The Essex also has a complete workout facility and a spectacular pool.

Hotels that are closer to the main shopping area on Michigan Avenue may also tempt women travelers. There is a Marriott and an Inter-Continental on Michigan Avenue, the Clarion Executive Plaza on Wacker Drive, Fairfield Inn on Ontario and the Best Western on Ohio Street.

Thinking of taking a long-awaited trip with a group of girlfriends? Wait no longer! Chicago and its many treasures awaits! Pick up the phone and make it happen – what do you have to lose?

A True Gentleman

Who says gentlemen are a thing of the past? I accidentally left my press credentials, business cards and other belongings on the taxi seat on my last night in Chicago. When I returned home there was a message from a young man who had found my belongings and wanted to return them. A couple of days later an envelope arrived in my mailbox with all my lost items. Thank you, Brian O'Mahony of Chapel Hill, N.C., for being a truly kind gentleman.
