Chic Chicago
A Woman's Playground
By C.J. Johnson
The Cheesecake Factory, located on the bottom floor of the world-famous Hancock Tower, is wild, playful and the place to be on a happening night. The menu is extensive, and the food is fabulous! If you love cheesecake, there are 35 different varieties on the menu.
Visitors to the Navy Pier can take a short walk to Fox and Obel food market for a quick meal. Not only does this shop offer gourmet ingredients for home-cooked meals, it also has a bakery and deli with savory, hearty meals. There is a European feel to this vibrant marketplace. Women will have an easy time filling up and chatting at this quaint spot.
For true chocolate lovers there are countless ways to satisfy those chocolaty cravings in Chicago. The biggest attraction dedicated to the dark, dreamy temptation is Ghirardelli Chocolate Shop and Soda Fountain located at 830 N. Michigan Avenue. This creamery has confections, ice cream, cocoa and gifts. It is the perfect spot to indulge after a lunch date.
Frango has been creating chocolate temptations since 1926. They began making chocolate mints, but gradually expanded their confections to include toffee crunch, caramel, double chocolate, raspberry and peanut butter. The possibilities don't end with the candies – Frango also has delicious cookies, coffees and liqueurs. To sample their decadent sweets, head to Marshall Fields where an amazing array of chocolates, cocoas and gift sets are available.
Daily AdventuresFora good time, check out the Seadog Harbor Cruise. This is a jet speed, rock-n-roll, hilarious tour of the harbor. The captains are knowledgeable of the area and know how to keep the passengers laughing while they take in a Chicago history lesson. This is a playful way to learn about this fabulous city, and it is a great way to spend a half-hour.
