Chic Chicago

A Woman's Playground

Women enjoy getting out of town together and leaving their daily routines and responsibilities behind. My friend and I had talked many times about traveling together, but we both have three sons and very busy lives. We found our chance to venture out together recently and headed to Chicago. United in our quest for fun, we set out to discover the best restaurants and attractions the big windy city had to offer women tourists. Here is what we found.

Restaurants

Ladies who want a fabulous lunch to break up their shopping sprees will want to visit the Bistro 110 located at 110 East Pearson. This restaurant is conveniently located near Marshall Fields, the Hancock Center and the Water Tower. The Bistro offers French delicacies as well as hearty, yet wholesome, American fare. We sampled the artichoke baked with Brie and didn't ever want to leave our table. We ended up dragging the last bits of our bread through the remaining sauce on the plate. Luckily, the waitress offered us the recipe before we left. We both adored our menu selections and strolled out of the Bistro feeling very happily full and quite content.

The Pump Room on 1301 North State Parkway has classic charm. The walls are lined with photographs of famous people who have dined in style at this well-known spot for the past 64 years. Lucille Ball, Shirley MacLain, Susan Sarandon and Bonnie Hunt are only a few of the amazing women who have made a point of eating there. Travelers who are looking for a fabulous Sunday brunch should stop in for a delicious three-course meal. Their new executive and pastry chefs with talent at creating French-American cuisine have added more color and flare to the meals.
