nd finally having to borrow a hammer from the hotel). The fresh coconut proved worth the wait: creamy and delicious!

After our busy mornings we looked forward to lunches and dinners. Our favorite restaurant was the easygoing Cheeseburger in Paradise, located beachside in Lahaina. We shunned all cholesterol caution and feasted on the five-napkin Cheeseburger in Paradise and ooey-gooey Seasoned Cheese Fries. It's a good idea to arrive before or after popular dining times to avoid long lines. Cheeseburger in Paradise is located at 811 Front Street in Lahaina. Call 808-661-4855 for more information.

We also enjoyed a seafood-fest at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. Don't miss Bubba's After the Storm "Bucket of Boat Trash" (delectable Baja Style shrimp, lobster and white fish), and after dining, remember to waddle over to take a picture on the bench next to Forrest Gump's famed chocolate box. Visit the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company at 889 Front Street, Lahaina or call 808-661-3111 for more information.

We couldn't leave Maui without sampling a luau, and the Marriott Luau was a sure crowd-pleaser. The vivid ocean sunset had a hard time competing with the Marriott Luau's Fire-Knife Dancers, graceful hula exhibitions and lavish all-you-can-eat buffet featuring tropical fare to tempt even the pickiest little ones. We particularly enjoyed the Roasted Kalua Pig and Fresh Island Pineapple. Save 20 percent by booking your tickets via the Internet. The Marriott Luau is located at 100 Nohea Kai drive, Lahaina. Call 800-745-6997 for more information.

On the plane ride home my mom, my dad, Max and I grinned and laughed over our digital photos and relived the fun times we'd had in Maui. Our multi-generational trip is a memory I'll treasure forever.
