Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
The Midwest's Family Playground
By Elisa Ast All
There's also Treasure Island Water Park and Resort. With more than 35 acres of outdoor and 65,000 square feet of indoor water fun, Treasure Island is great fun. Another bonus: You'll find the Midwest's only indoor children's wavepool. Located at 1701 Wisconsin Dells Parkway, Wisconsin Dells. Contact them at 800-800-4997 or www.wisdellstreasureisland.com.
You won't want to miss a ride on the original Wisconsin Ducks, amphibious trucks first introduced by General Motors in 1952 that now offer tours of the Dells. Nearly all the Wisconsin Ducks served in World War II, transporting soldiers and tons of equipment through land and water. The Dells Ducks are the largest fleet now in use, and they offer a stunning trip around the scenic Dells area. Located at 1890 Wisconsin Dells Parkway, Wisconsin Dells. Contact them at 608-254-8751 or www.wisconsinducktours.com.
The Tommy Bartlett Water Show is a Wisconsin Dells tradition. The three-level human pyramid is an amazing site you may not see anywhere else in the Midwest. There's also a ski jump contest, "ballet" on water, freestyle ski jumping and a mystifying trick of backward barefoot skiing. Hosting more than 300,000 people each summer from Memorial Day to Labor Day with show times at 1, 4:30 and 8:30 p.m., you'll see entertainers from across the globe doing acrobatic maneuvers and daring displays of athletics and agility. Located at 560 Wisconsin Dells Parkway, Wisconsin Dells. Contact them at 608-254-2525 or www.tommybartlett.com.
If you like colder weather and snow, you'll love the Dells during fall and winter. You can ski, snowmobile, horseback ride or visit many museums loaded with cultural and educational interests.
