White River State Park
One-of-a-kind Gifts and Holiday Memories
By Adam Hoover
. The Indianapolis Indians baseball team is taking its winter break, but the gift shop remains open and offers a variety of jerseys, hats, sweatshirts and other items featuring Indianapolis' Triple-A baseball team. Across the street from Victory Field, you also can make a stop at Campus Corner, the NCAA Hall of Champions' gift shop. Campus Corner is the only place you can get NCAA officially licensed merchandise and gifts.
While the Hall of Champions might not take on the holiday flair of some of the park's other attractions, there is still much to see inside the architectural masterpiece created by Indianapolis native Michael Graves. The 25,000-square-foot facility features not only championship highlights from the NCAA's 22 sports, but also puts into perspective the true meaning of the word "champion" using hands-on interactive displays, multi-media presentations and games featuring the memories and experiences of student athletes. If you're heading to Indianapolis for the Indiana vs. Kentucky basketball game on December 22 at the RCA Dome, stop by the Hall of Champions before tip-off for refreshments, children's games and holiday prizes.
With all of these great attractions, White River State Park offers still one more benefit for the holiday shopper. Almost all of the attractions – and their gift shops – are within walking distance from each other, making it possible to spend a few hours or a few days taking in all that the park has to offer.
While you'll need to pay admission fees to enjoy many of the attractions' holiday festivities, a trip into their gift shops won't cost anything -- unless you decide to make a few holiday purchases.
As you make plans to tackle your holiday shopping this year, why not make a trip to White River State Park -- you'll get one-of-a-kind gifts for your loved ones and make some holiday memories in the process!
