Ah, heaven. Finally a restaurant that offers gourmet cuisine for parents and a whimsical kids' menu to please little ones. The restaurant's signature Artichoke Baked With Brie is an all-time favorite starter. I had to close my eyes and savor the sauce and was thrilled that the restaurant provides patrons with the recipe.

French-American Bistro 110 offers everything from exotic Russian Caviar to savory Steak Au Poivre (New York strip steak crusted with peppercorns and served with a cognac cream sauce and garlic potato cake). Kids can choose from child-friendly entrees like Bistro Grilled Cheese and Beef Tenderloin, served with fries. The restaurant's charming bistro setting, colorful d袯r and large windows (which encourage people-watching) are all big family-pleasers. Visit the restaurant at 110 East Pearson Street or call (312) 266-3110.

4. The Hancock Observatory

For panoramic views spanning 80 miles and four states, zoom up the elevator to this newly renovated must-see. Your family can step onto the open-air skywalk for a dizzying but safe look at the 1,000-foot drop. Or a "Talking Telescope" can point out favorite sites in four languages, and your child will be delighted with the thrilling photo ops and interactive computer exhibits. The Hancock Observatory is located at 875 E. Monroe St. Call (888) 875-8439.

5. Museum of Science and Industry

This museum provides a perfect combination of science and fun. Your kids will hardly realize they're learning as they observe cloned mice, or they can color, mix and alter their facial features or sample submarine life in the U-505 exhibit and much more. You'll be surprised how time flies as you experiment with the 14 acres of exhibits. Visit the museum at 57th street and Lakeshore drive or call (773) 684-1414.

6. Rainforest Cafe

The Rainforest Caf矴ransforms lunch into an adenture. Thunderstorms, waterfalls, tropical fish tanks and whimsical moving animals (including a jaw-snapping alligator) will entertain your child, leaving time for you to linger over your entr裠selection. Don't miss the tangy Leaping Lizard Lettuce Wraps or the Nile Shrimp Enbrochette.
