Take Time for Fun in Texas
Stroll the Kemah Boardwalk!
By Donna Smith
The Crab House offers a more casual dining experience. Sit outside under the covered deck and feast on some of the freshest seafood around. Famous for their all-you-can-eat seafood bar, which features oysters, clams, shrimp, crab, mussels, salmon and crayfish, they also serve up tender steaks and pasta dishes. The Crab House also offers a reasonably priced child's menu.
The Flying Dutchman, one of the oldest Boardwalk restaurants, is a favorite among visitors. Families in particular will enjoy the playground equipment located right beside the outside dining area. Little ones can play while parents wait for their table, enjoy a drink or even eat their meal.
Landry's is another dining option, or stop by Joe's Crab Shack to eat and watch the waitresses do the Macarena or other fun dances on the tables. If you don't feel like seafood, stop by the Cadillac Bar and try some of their famous fajitas and frozen margaritas or The Pizza Oven for a delicious fresh-baked pizza!
For the KidsA new addition to the Boardwalk is the amusement park. Children love riding on the Ferris wheel, going round and round on the carousel or taking a ride on the gas-powered train that circles the entire Boardwalk. Do the kids need to get rid of some of that energy before they sit down to eat? Let them run through the "dancing fountains." Random sprays of water coming from the ground can reach up to 12 feet and will have your children screaming with delight. A definite favorite with the kids!
Located right on the Boardwalk, in front of the fountains, is the new Kemah Boardwalk Inn. With a breathtaking view of the ocean, this 52-room, full-service hotel is perfect for those who want to savor what Kemah has to offer. Whether looking down at the water or watching a local band play on the stage beside the fountains, you can't go wrong with this charming hotel which prides itself on making the guest the No. 1 priority.
