Stratford On The Avon
Discover the Small Community of Stratford in Ontario, Canada
By Julia Rosien
Stratford is blessed with wide streets in its downtown shopping area. Many of the buildings retain the quaint, Victorian charm of yester- year, although modern storefronts and up-to-date display techniques label it as a modern marketing center.
Ontario, Erie and Huron, the three main thoroughfares through town, are named after three of our Great Lakes. At the intersection of these streets, you'll find novelty shops sporting local handicrafts. Shops selling ice cream huddle between those selling sweaters and rare books. Wander down the streets and lose your self in the small-town charm Stratford so willingly offers.

Much like church bells announce a funeral, trumpet fanfare proclaims the beginning of performances at the main theatre. Festival Theatre stands high above the water's edge on the shore of the Avon. Formal gardens embellish the stone walk up to the building. Classic Shakespearean plays, thought-provoking dramas, spirited comedies, and spectacular musicals play each season. Guests are always invited backstage for a tour after performances.
