William Howard Taft's home, located at 12038 Auburn Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio, is great fun for kids with its "Measure of a Man or Woman" role-playing program complete with period costumes and props. There's also a "Toys and Tots" program for K-3 with old-fashioned wooden toys, marbles, etc.

Herbert Hoover's birthplace and library are open at 110 Parkside Drive, West Branch, Iowa. There's a reference library and exhibits about Laura Ingalls Wilder that kids will enjoy as well as a blacksmith shop. 319-643-2541

Franklin Delano Roosevelt's home and library are wonderful for families with a K-12 learning center and a massive library. Don't miss the "Secret Agency in the Oval Office" program for kids where they get to search for clues and test hypotheses. The home and library are located at 519 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park, N.Y. (914-229-9115). Take the side trip to Val-kill, Eleanor Roosevelt's private retreat, which is just down the road.
