Legoland Ahoy!

Interactive Fun for Little Ones

"Older kids have fun at the park while using creativity and imagination," says Kina Paegert, senior communications specialist for Legoland California. "Kids that are building a robot or a making a structure and testing it with a simulated earthquake don't feel like they're learning but they are. If something doesn't work they'll try to fix it or think, 'How can I make this go faster or be stronger?' It's great to see how kids and families come together and help each other." The big-kid activities sounded fun to me and I'm sure the boys will want to try them when they're older.

Upon leaving the park I asked Max what he thought of our day. "Legoland is the best!" he cried. High praise from a 4-year-old. If you're looking for wholesome family fun for your young family, head to Legoland. Your kids will have a great time "playing" and so will you.

Insider Information

To make the most of your day at Legoland try the following:

  • Arrive early. Most visitors turn left at the entrance to hit the park's first ride. Turn right instead and head to the back of the park to avoid lines.
  • If you have kids ages 8 and older sign up immediately for Mindstorms. These classes fill up quick.
  • Bring extra clothes so your kids can gleefully drench themselves in the water features.
  • Head for shows early to avoid getting locked out. Once the doors close you're faced with pouting kids and a long wait for the next show.
More Information

Legoland is located in Carlsbad, Calif., one hour south of Disneyland in Anaheim and half an hour north of Sea World in San Diego. The park is open 365 days a year. Children under 3 are free.
