Minnesota's Winter Playground
By Suzy Feine
According to Mike Sweeney, food and beverage manager, Breezy Point Resort is on the verge of expansion. "We plan to expand the resort to include two new restaurants, enhanced convention services, additional timeshare condos and possibly a new golf shop and spa," Sweeney says. For more information visit their Web site at www.breezypointresort.com.
West of Brainerd in the famed Pine Beach area, Kavanaugh's Resort lies along Sylvan Lake. This family-owned-and-operated resort has been impressing guests with their down home hospitality for more than 31 years. Fifty-two different pool suites, condominiums and multi-bedroom cottages offer a variety of lodging options.
An ice skating rink, sledding hill and cross-country ski trails are easily accessible and maintained by the resort. Come inside to enjoy Kavanaugh's new pool and recreation complex, complete with a new indoor pool and spa, laundry facility, fitness room and game room.
The dining room at Kavanaugh's is open for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings and dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings during the winter months. Executive Chef Tom Kavanaugh creates custom recipes and mouth-watering meals while his brother, Mark, manages the restaurant.
John Kavanaugh, general manager of Kavanaugh's, sums up the finer points of this family-owned resort. "Kavanaugh's is small enough to provide that family atmosphere yet big enough to provide the same amenities as the larger resorts," he says. For more information visit their Web site at www.kavanaughs.com.
