5 Florida Hot Spots When Traveling with Small Children
By Robert Rousseau
That said, one of Ponte Vedra's beaches – a part of the estuary that GTMNERR encapsulates – fits the bill.
Ponte Vedra's North Beach access point has one parking lot on A1A that will cost you a few bucks to enter. For parents traveling with children, it should also be noted that the road you have to cross to get from the parking lot to the beach is quite busy. As soon as you do cross that road and step onto the winding bridge that leads over an area of lush-green northern Florida vegetation, many adults begin to feel a connection with this place. And once you get to the apex of the bridge, be forewarned that you'll want a camera. There is a breathtaking lookout point there where everything from the far points of the ocean to the amazingly unspoiled sand dunes can be taken in.
Now here's the part for the 3- to 6-year-olds. This beach isn't very crowded. Therefore, parents won't have to worry about youngsters getting into other people's stuff (and if they yell a little, so what?). And there is an abundance of shells, dolphins are regularly seen frolicking in the distance and there are wading pools, which are always a favorite for youngsters.
The drawback is that there are no lifeguards or public bathrooms present (there is a portable toilet in the parking lot, but that's a mild walk away). Still, the beauty of this beach and the relative isolation alone will no doubt captivate parents and children alike.
