Boyne Mountain, Michigan
An Ultimate Family Vacation in the Midwest
By Elisa Ast All
Also try out the adjoining arcade, a two-story tower of fun and games where you can win prizes only a kid could love. There are plenty of snacks and drinks nearby, too.
Because Boyne's core customer is the family, they go to great lengths to make children feel special. Kids' and teens' camp programs are designed for all ages and abilities, and most activities take place outside where kids are in their element. At kids' camp, children make friends and learn to ski in a fun, noncompetitive environment. There are four hours of instruction every day, so kids can go in the morning, the afternoon or all day long.
The morning session is from 9:30 to 11:45. Kids may eat a buffet-style lunch with their instructor from 11:45 to 12:15. From 12:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. kids can participate in activities such as games, arts and crafts, movies or just simply rest until their afternoon lessons. There's an evening program, too. Kids can meet for dinner with their instructor at 6 p.m. and participate in activities until 8 p.m.
While kids are enjoying camp, parents can ski, dine or enjoy the therapeutic delights of Solace Spa, an 18,000-square-foot escape to rejuvenate body and soul. Located on the main and lower levels of the Mountain Grand Lodge, Solace offers decadent treatments to cure whatever ails you.
You feel serene upon entering the quiet space. Whether you're there to exercise, use the steam rooms, saunas or indoor/outdoor pool, indulge in a body treatment or salon service (or all of the above!), you will be at peace while doing it.
The friendly staff can help you choose from a menu of treatments including facials, body exfoliation/wraps and massages. Make sure to get a pedicure – the massage chairs are to die for! While you wait or after your treatment, enjoy the soothing relaxation room and help yourself to hot tea, cucumber water and fresh fruit in front of the fireplace.
