will drive you through Hell's Revenge in a Hummer during the day, at sunset or beneath a star-speckled night sky. Or try High Point Hummer for two- to four-hour tours.

4. Float down the Colorado River. An easy raft trip sets off near Fisher Towers just 23 miles outside town. You'll get a safety briefing, but the class I-III rapids provide gentle thrills with little risk. Many outfitters, including Moab Adventure Center and Adrift Adventures, offer these trips. Half-day and full-day rates vary for children/adults and with or without lunch.

5. Saddle up and go for a horseback ride beneath Castle Rock. You'll splash through Castle Creek and ride past bushes loaded with juniper berries. Enjoy a two-hour ride on beautiful quarter horses, morning or afternoon.

6. Decode Indian petroglyphs. Find this rock art at multiple locations in the Moab area, including Potash Road (take Hwy. 191 to scenic byway 279 south for 5 miles; stop at the "Indian Writing" sign). Some of the largest panels of petroglyphs are in Newspaper Rok State Park, 12 miles outside of town.
