Austin, Texas
Family Fun in the Heart of Texas
By Donna Smith
We had dinner at the hotel's Austin Grill. The casual, but elegant, atmosphere makes it a perfect choice for families with children. The menu featured Southwestern foods with a modern twist. After agonizing over the selections, the waitress helped by recommending the Grilled Swordfish. Served with a pineapple avocado butter sauce, lobster coconut risotto and grilled baby vegetables, it was out of this world. Other options included a 12-ounce Caribbean "jerk" grilled ribeye, bacon wrapped pork tenderloin, chicken fried steak and horseradish-crusted salmon. Each came with a unique side dish, such as jalapeņo sweet corn flan, smoked gouda mashed potatoes or a warm andouille couscous salad. A kid's menu is available.
The Hill Country Dining Room offered a more romantic dining experience, and Jim Bob's, a cozy sports bar, was the perfect spot for a game of pool and a plate of nachos.

Want some time for yourself? Plan to have a treatment at the Spa at Barton Creek. How does a rainforest body rinse sound? Or maybe a massage, manicure, body wrap, facial or aromatherapy? The spa also offers a side-by-side cassic Swedish massage if you want to get away as a couple or with a friend. And be sure to check out their Texas-themed signature products.
