Tantalizing Tucson
Where to Pamper or Push Yourself in Arizona
By C.J. Johnson
Hikers who want to venture out alone will find many opportunities for exercise. Within Pima County there are 13 trailheads leading to Coronado National Forest, Saguaro National Park West, Tucson Mountain Park and Cienega Creek Natural Preserve. You can receive a map of the trails and a description of each by calling (520) 740-2690.
Golf OpportunitiesThe Westin at La Paloma, nestled in the Santa Catalina Mountains, looked to nature for its inspiration when building this fabulous resort. Their facility complements its surroundings rather than upstaging it.
This resort sports a Jack Nicklaus 27-hole golf course. Golf for Women has rated it as one of the top 100 women-friendly courses, and Golf Digest has claimed it is one of the Top 75 resort courses in the country.
Avid golfers may want to stay at the Omni Tucson National Golf Resort & Spa. It sports a 27-hole PGA Championship golf course. This resort has a southwestern style right down to the d袯r in the guest rooms.
Tucson hosts more than 30 additional golf courses. To find a complete listing of courses and locations, go to www.ProGolfTucson.com.
Looking for a fantastically delicious, low-fat meal? Check out Cafe Terra Cotta where they offer Ahi endive salads, poblano chile platters and outrageous spinach salads.
At Triple C Chuckwagon Suppers visitors can sit back and relax while the Sons of the Pioneers put on an authentic Western stage show. They can stuff themselves with the chucwagon dinners and leave happy knowing they took part in a unique Tucson experience.
