Old Sturbridge Village
Take a Trip Back in Time to Old Sturbridge Village
By Diana Erbio
Enjoy a tavern supper and meet a 19th-century character during "Village Tavern Evening" held on Saturday nights in January through March. It is held at the Bullard Tavern from 6 to 10 p.m. Card games, puppets and music allow guests to pass the time as the early New Englanders did. For more information on events, prices and reservations visit their Web site.
Overnight packages are also available. Request a Calendar of Events to learn more about the museum's special programs and workshops.
Old Sturbridge Village is located in central Massachusetts on Route 20. It is less than a mile from Exit 9 off of the Massachusetts Turnpike (Interstate 90) and Exit 2 of Interstate 84 from Hartford and New York.
Here are some other activities at Old Sturbridge Village:
- Breakfast on the Farm: Allows children ages 8 and older (youths must be accompanied by an adult) to help with morning chores and prepare a hearty hearth-cooked breakfast at Freeman Farm.
- Family Fun Days: A week of lively activities for all ages. Storytelling, candle making and sleigh rides are only part of the fun.
- It's Magic: Robert Olson portrays Harry Ames, a rowdy magician from 18th-century London, and Richard Potter, an early-19th-century Americanmagician, for a 21st-century audience in the Visitor Center Theater.
