Tropical Family Fun
The Starfish Resort in Jamaica
By Belinda Clarke
Parents looking for a more elegant sit-down dinner option will enjoy the Scotch Bonnet restaurant, which is set up each evening on the pool deck and offers a choice of two Jamaican-themed entrees plus salad, soup, dessert and wine at no cost. For those desiring a higher-end option, guests may also visit the three "surcharge" restaurants, which charge a nominal fee for dinner. The Japanese restaurant, the Munahana, is just $15 per person and includes a sushi appetizer, soup, salad, stir-fry entr裠and dessert.
The Starfish Trelawny has 350 air-conditioned rooms, the majority of which are in the hotel and have both ocean and mountain views. The other option is to stay in one of the 40 bungalows, which are more spacious and extend from the hotel to the swimming pool deck. Just as all of the hotel rooms have private balconies, the bungalows have large shaded porches with plenty of room for a table, two chairs and lounge chair. Hibiscus and other flowering trees help give each bungalow an intimate, tropical flair.
Lastly, the hotel rooms,
bathrooms and every aspect of the resort is immaculate. Guests will be amazed at the large number of hotel employees catering to guest needs and keeping the facilities pristine.
The Starfish Trelawny is located about 30 minutes' drive from the Montego Bay airport in Jamaica. Air Jamaica offers numerous nonstop flights from dozens of U.S. cities. A valid passport or notarized birth certificate is required for entrance into the country.
