Smugglers' Notch
Vermont's Ultimate Family Vacation
By Elisa Ast All
Big Kids' Camp for adults offers two days of kayaking and one day of Low
and High Ropes Course Challenge, as well as swimming and hiking. You can rent a mountain bike and even sail on Lake Champlain.
If too much activity isn't your idea of a vacation, that's OK, too! Have a massage, take a yoga class or just grab a book and lounge by one of the many pools. This vacation is what you make of it. When you're ready to re-group as a family, there are many activities to do together, as well as dining options. There's even a weekly carnival!
In the summer, Smuggs is a wonderfully wet place to be. With eight pools, three waterslides, water playgrounds and a mountain reservoir, there are many places to go to cool off. Smuggs Central offers waterslides, hot tubs and a wading pool for kids. You can play tennis, miniature golf or hike a nature trail – then jump in the pool.
Notchville Park has three pools and includes the Lily Pad Walk, Wishing Well Watering Hole and Sugar House with leaking bucket and water cannon. You can enjoy sand volleyball or croquet and even climb a tower.
The Mountainside Pool area is home to the 300-foot long and 30-foot tall Giant Rapid River Ride, the Mountainside Pool, Little Smugglers' Lagoon and more. Rum Runners' Hideaway is a 6-acre reservoir high on Morse Mountain where you can canoe, paddleboat, fish, swim or just have a picnic.
