A Slice of Heaven
Club Med Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
By Brad Keywell
In the interest of offering an unbiased review of the Club Med vacation, it is appropriate to describe the bad parts of the trip. The worst part was the start, as the check-in process leaves much to be desired. While there are morning and evening "orientation meetings" for new arrivals, we experienced a check-in that included nearly no description of the what/where/how of the village and no directions of where to go, no suggestions of what to do and no discussion of how to get food. In short, a disorienting orientation.
As discussed above, the food was good, but not great. And the rooms could have been larger, and it would have helped if they had a bath (rather than just a shower). But, we all know that nothing is perfect.
I was once told that the best way to describe an experience is not by what happened, but by how it made you feel. For this family, the Club Med vacation made us feel closer to each other, allowed us to find small, magical moments that created new bonds and gave us a refreshed appreciation for shared moments. Sound good? I'll see you there next year.
