Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo
The Perfect Year-round Family Destination
By Ginny Hermann
The Desert Dome is the world's largest indoor desert exhibit enclosed by the largest glazed geodesic dome in the world. Desert landforms, plants and animals are on display from three deserts of the world: the Namib Desert of southern Africa, the Red Center of Australia and the Sonoran Desert of the Southwest United States. Under the Desert Dome is the Kingdoms of the Night, housing the world's largest nocturnal animal exhibit. As you exit the dome, there is a special room housing baby reptiles and amphibians and some of the reptile-related conservation
projects being conducted at the zoo.
Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo is the perfect stop for any animal lover. The zoo is open year-round, and since several of the most popular exhibits are indoors, it makes for the perfect cold-weather getaway. For more information about the zoo, call 402-733-8411 or visit the zoo online at www.omahazoo.com.
